Countdown to Christmas

How are your stars coming out? Are you still with me?
I hope everyone is getting the hang of those little blocks.
If you are making one a day you should have 18 blocks,
you will need a total of 24 blocks.
From your lights you will need to cut 156 - 2-1/2" squares.
If you have your 4 patches done you can use some of
your 2-1/2" light squares and make 56 blocks like this.

Afternoon Nap

We have a new display in the shop and it looks
perfect for my afternoon nap. To bad there is no time for that.
- - - - - - - - - - -
We are planning an Olde Fashioned Christmas Bed Turning
for Saturday, December 7 so save the date.
More details to follow.
- - - - - - - - - - -
I have had a few questions about our Saturday Stitching.
To avoid multiple emails and calls I am going to try a cover
the answers, of course if you have a different questions
please do not hesitate to ask.
- - - - - - - - - - -
1. What size should I cut my fabric?
I am using a 4" hoop so I cut my squares 6".
If you are using a larger hoop you will need to
adjust your size to fit the hoop.

2. Do you have any more S is for Stitch kits.
I am so sorry but I do not have any more kits
and will not be making more. If you need the book
I will have more in the shop soon or you can get one here.

3. What kind of floss are you using and what colors?
I am using DMC because it is available everywhere.
I chose colors that will work well with the reproduction
fabric I love. These are the colors I included in the kit.
#3790 - dark brown - 2 skeins
#3032 - medium brown
#598 - light blue green
#368 - medium green

Countdown to Christmas

Lets get started.
- - - - - - - - - -
First you will need to make 24 - 2" stars. Use this tutorial to
make one each day for 24 days. That will put us 1 month
from Christmas Eve. Yikes! Along the way I will give you additional
information for different parts of the quilt, that way we can have
this project all wrapped up in time for Christmas.
You will need to cut 24 sets like this.
1 light 2-1/4" square
4 light 1" squares
1 dark 1-1/2" square
4 dark 1-3/8" squares
Draw Diagonal lines on the wrong side of 4 dark 1-3/8" squares
Place 2 dark squares on light 2-1/4" square.
Sew 1/4" on each side of line.
Cut on line, press points out.
Place a dark square on each unit and sew 1/4" on each side of line.
Cut on line, press points out. Trim little tails off.
Layout and piece together 2" star - repeat to make 24 stars.
