Summer Night Square Up Sew Along

Are you ready to get started making a few half

 square triangles? I love to square up half square 

triangles the old fashion way. There are a variety of

different techniques to make these little gems. Using 

your favorite, make 888 | 1-1/2" finished half square

triangles. Here is how I will be making mine.

Cutting:

from a variety of brown,black and grey prints cut the following:

444 squares, 2-1/2" x 2-1/2"

From a variety of light prints cut the following:

444 squares, 2-1/2" x 2 1/2"

Use this tutorial to make half square 

triangles with my favorite technique.

Use one light and one dark 2-1/2" square. 

Square each half square triangle to 2"

Make your half square triangles at your own pace. 

I will be checking in from time to time with reminders

and progress reports. Finishing pattern will be available

in early August as a PDF download for a minimal fee.

One Block Wednesday

I just LOVE the way this quilt came out. I am really

drawn to one block quilts at the moment. I think the 

Wild Goose Wednesday quilt I made several years

ago started the whole thing. This will be the last One

Block Wednesday post, if you have been working along

with us you might not have quite enough blocks but

I hope you will be able to persevere and get it done.  

Check out this post for my secret tip for easy assembly.

My quilt is put together in 21 rows of 17 blocks. 

 

 Any suggestions for another one block sew along.

Summer Night Square Up Sew Along

 

I have a fun little project to keep us busy all summer long.

Spend a few lazy summer nights making and squaring up 

half square triangles and by the end of summer we will

have a wonderful quilt inspired by this beauty.

Remembering

Memorial Day finds it origins in the Civil War. It was

originally known as Decoration Day, it originated 

in the years following the Civil War and became an 

official federal holiday in 1971. Lets take a minute
today to remember those who paid the ultimate sacrifice.
