  2. I love it! But 2-12 yards can't be real for these tiny blocks. Maybe 1/2?

    1. Marcie, The sew along last all year. The quilt is going to get much larger. I padded it a little to be sure you would have enough.

  3. Can you post a close-up of the grey fabric (or a link to a photo online) so I can get a better look before I order it? Thanks.

    1. Susan,
The quilt will finish about 40" x 50". Still working on it myself so I am not completely sure.

  6. Unsure of the amount for setting/background. Is the 2 1/2 yds going to include more background for the rest of the quilt, or is this a typo? (Just want to make sure I have enough) Thank you.

    1. Andrea,
The quilt will finish approximately 40" x 50" so you will need additional setting fabric.

    2. Thank you Sheryl, one more question....can my setting fabric be different for each round/layer of this quilt, or is it important that it all be the same? Thanks.

    4. I think it could be different. I am designing as I go so I am not even sure what the finished project will look like. I am sure you could make it work.

  7. Is there supposed to be easing around the nine patch and pinwheel blocks in the center? It appears so in the photo. I'm enjoying this project.

  8. Should be sashing instead of easing

    1. Judith, There is no sashing just alternate blocks and setting triangles, then add thin border.

  9. Love it! So pretty!! Love adding in the grey

  10. From the looks of your photo, it does not appear that you added the small border to your center medallion. It seems that the setting triangles were oversized. Am I right?

    Thanks, Charlotte

    1. You are correct Charlotte. I thought it would be to confusing to explain it that way and my quilt design software would not allow me to draw it that way, at least I do not know how to draw it that way.

  11. Can you tell us the measurements of the unfinished quilt as shown. My blocks all came up to exact size and I used the same s/a for setting the centre together but there is no way that I could trim to 13" without cutting off the points of the 9 patches. Is the size critical? I left a 1/4" s/a around that and added the 1 1/2" border. I now can trim to 14" but only have a 1/4 " of border before adding the quarter square blocks? I can live with it if the size is critical to what comes next. Thanks Sheryl I'll wait before I trim.

    1. Zoe, I am not sure what happened in the center but as long as you trim to 14" before you add your hourglass you should be fine.

    2. Thanks Sheryl, I'll trim to 14" and go from there.

  12. I think I know what happened to Zoe because it happened to me and another friend who was also doing Circa 2016. The measurement of the finished nine patch / pinwheel on the diagonal is 3.25 according to Fons and Porter's formula for setting triangles. Multiply that by 4 equals 13inches plus 1/2 inch for seams allowance . So no way can you square up at 13 without cutting your points off. The software got confused!!

  13. I'm struggling with getting the final row of 'ties' to fit around the center. :-/ I've been *very* careful with my 1/4" seam allowance - but... I may end up not being able to finish the quilt - just make a wall quilt out of the center medallion - once I figure out how to get them together... whatever else comes next won't 'fit'. :-(

    1. Don't worry Mary we can make it work.

    2. I am going to continue... my center medallion ended up being 19.5" square - despite narrowing the border a bit. I absolutely LOVE it...so does mom - If it ends up a quilt... I think she'll get it. :-)

  14. All measurements worked out perfectly for me and I'm loving my scrappy Circa 2016 so far! Thanks for the fun project!

  15. Hello dear .You put really very helpful information.
It’s pretty worth enough for me. In my opinion, if all webmasters and bloggers made good content as you did, the web will be a lot more useful than ever before.

  16. So after adding the 1 1/2" strip of grey around, do I trim to exactly 14", or trim to 14 1/2" for a seem allowance? I am confused. Thank you.
