Christmastide
The history of the Twelve Days of Christmas is
a little different than you might think. The Twelve Days of
Christmas are the festive days beginning Christmas Day.
This period is also known as Christmastide.
The Twelfth Day of Christmas is 5 January, with the
celebrations of Christmas traditionally ending on
Twelfth Night and is followed by the Feast of the
Epiphany on 6 January. In some traditions the first
day of Epiphany and the twelfth day of Christmas overlap.

The Quilt pictured above is from the Victoria and
Albert Museum in London and has been on my
list of projects to start. I thought it would be fun
to tie the whole process together with the Twelve
Days of Christmas. Join me starting December 26th
for a little history and a bit of inspiration.

If you would like to make one of your own be ready
to download daily patterns and have your scraps and
applique supplies ready.
