Sub-cut into 68 | 1-1/4" units

Making strip sets is the easiest way to make multiple
block especially when they are all the same color.
For this project we will be making a variety of different
size strip sets, here are the simple steps.
1. Sew strips together along length of strip in order
outlined in each step. Example: light-red-light
2. Press seams toward the dark, being careful not to
stretch and distort the strip set.
3. Sub-cut multiple units by cutting from narrow end
of each strip set at indicated width.

Using light|dark|light units and dark|light|dark units
make 68 nine patches with dark corners.
Finished block 2-1/4" square,
2-3/4" square including seam allowances

  2. Sheryl, your blocks always look so crisp. Do you starch before cutting and sewing?

  4. When the red and white 9-patches are ready, is there a preferred way to press them? I've been spinning the center seams so they lie flat or should I be doing it another way?
