Olde Glory
Finished Quilt | 10 1/2”x 15 3/4”
Finished Block | 1 3/4”
from blue star print cut 1 | 2 1/4” x 3” rectangle
from print scraps cut 24 | 2 3/4” squares
from red and natural solid cut 1 | 3/4” x width of fabric strip
subcut from red 4 | 3/4” x 4” strips and 3 | 3/4” x 6 1/2”
subcut from natural 3 | 3/4” x 4” strips and 3 | 3/4” x 6 1/2”
from natural solid cut 24 | 2 3/4” squares
from stripe fabric cut 2 | 1 1/2” x width of fabric strips | binding
Assemble Quilt
1. Using 2 3/4” natural and print squares make 48 half square triangles.
draw diagonal line | sew 1/4” on each side of line | cut on line | press toward dark | square to 2 1/4"
2. Make Olde Glory | Note use 1/4” seams and trim to 1/8”
Make 2 stripe units by alternating red and natural strips
3/4” x 6 1/2” stripe set
square to 2” x 5 3/4”
3. Piece Flag and quilt top using photo and diagram.
4. Quilt as desired and bind using single thickness binding.

ReplyDeleteLove this little quilt, but, I believe the flag is sewn in the wrong way...the blue field should be on the left, as you look at it.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the lovely flag pattern, perhaps it will be for next year for me. But yes, Kathy is correct - the blue should always be upper-left. The pattern as is would be fine if hung on the long side though!
