I haven't made this yet but I have a question. Why do you need 2 - 2 3/4 " squares - cut twice diagonally? Wouldn't that give you 8 pieces? Maybe I'm still half asleep!
I like my mail-order of fabrics that came to my door from Temecula Quilt Co. and I always appreciate your selection of Civil War fabrics and patterns on this blog. Ever since I saw this Square-in-a-Square done in solids in an Amish doll quilt I've wanted to try it. Thank you for the pattern.

Thanks, Charlotte
Charlotte -- it's one 2 ¾" square cut twice diagonally (both directions) and two 2 ⅜"squares cut once diagonally. It works.
DeleteThank you, I saw that Sheryl corrected the amount from the original post.
