One Block Wednesday

I hope you have decided to join us for
One Block Wednesday. If you are just joining
us you can get caught up here and here. Lets get started!
Using a 2" x width of fabric strip, cut the following,
Pictured from left to right with strip folded:
1. 2" x width of fabric strip - 42"
2. From selvage end cut: 2 squares, 2" x 2" and 4 rectangles, 1-1/2" x 2"
3. Cut remaining 2" strip down to 1-1/2"
4. From 1-1/2" strip cut: 8 squares, 1-1/2" x 1-1/2" and 4 strips, 1-1/2" x 4"
Repeat the same cuts with a light 2" strip.
Once you have cut all the pieces from a light
and dark 2" strip you should have the following:
2 dark and light squares, 2" x 2"
4 dark and light rectangles, 1-1/2" x 2"
4 dark and light strips, 1-1/2" x 4"
8 dark and light squares, 1-1/2" x 1-1/2"
This is enough pieces to make 4 One Block Wednesday blocks.

All the information needed to make the blocks is available
here but sometimes it is easier to have a printed pattern,
you can download a simple cutting and assembly
instruction sheet with the Buy Now button below.
There is a minimal fee to cover costs. Thanks!

Layout and piece the block as diagrammed.
Press all seams toward dark.
Draw a diagonal line on wrong side of each 1-1/2" square.
Sew on diagonal line, trim leaving 1/4" seam allowance.
Block should measure 4" including seam allowance
Each week we will make 12 blocks.
At this pace it will take 30 week to
complete a quilt that finishes 60" x 74"

  1. I'm looking forward to getting started. I am glad I didn't cut my strips yet, though. I'd rather cut them the correct widths to begin with. I never seem to get skinny strips straight enough again to make them even narrower. Thanks so much for another fun-looking project.

  2. I am using one strip of dark and one strip of light honey bun strips and it makes 4 blocks. Thanks for the great way to use up my honey bun strips. Takes a lot of cutting but I love the pattern. So I will be making 4 blocks a week.Thanks.

  3. Love your fabrics! Hope to get started soon.

  4. Sheryl: how many different lights and darks are you using?

  5. OMG!
    These are so cute!

  6. So beautiful blocks. How many strips we need of 11/2xwof of each fabric?I only cut 190 strips 2x WOF of each fabric ,lights and darks.

  7. Thank you so much for all the sweet things you share with us ♡
Didn't think I was interested in this one but once I saw your sweet blocks start piling up I changed my mind and started today!
The only bad thing is that I haven't quite completed the Secret Santa Sew Along yet :)

  8. I Love this and want to get started even though I'm a little late...wondering if your instructions to buy is downloadable...and if you accept paypal?

    1. The link to download the pattern is in the above post. So sorry put we can only take credit cards for this service. For you safety all in formation is encrypted and I have no access to it.
