Hugs and Kisses

I hope you had a little sweet sewing time this weekend.

If you did you will have this little valentine quilt done in no time.

 

Once you have made the Hugs and Kisses block from this post

cut the following to finish up the project:

six 2-3/4" squares for center setting

four 4-1/2" squares cut twice diagonally for setting and corner triangles.

two 2" x width of fabric strips for border

two 1-1/2" x width of fabric strips for binding

Layout quilt using photo for block placement.

Add borders using your quilts dimensions.

Hand quilt for a really sweet finish.

Bind using single thickness binding.

Hugs and Kisses

Hugs and Kisses is a sweet little Valentine project from us to you.

If you missed our first post you can find fabric requirements here.

We used a variety of red, pink and brown prints and

 the same light fabric for all the blocks.

Your finished blocks will be 2-1/4" 

First - Make 6 Hugs (9-patch) using 1-1/4" squares and the layout above.

Next - Make 6 Kiss blocks using the following:

Cut five 1-1/4" light squares, two 1-1/4" dark squares 

and two 1-1/4" x 2-3/4" rectangles.

Sew the 1-1/4" squares to 1-1/4" x 2-3/4" rectangles diagonally.

Trim to 1/4" and press open.

Sew three center 1-1/4" squares together for center.

Sew three sections together.

12 different red and pink scraps - 6" x 6"

1/4 yard or fat quarter - red, light, cream, and medium print.

Conversation hearts optional!
